You have to make sure your house isn’t a mess AND figure out what to wear?! Girl, quit your stressin’! I’ve got you covered! The good news: dressing for an in-home lifestyle session is WAY easier than a normal session! Yay! So here are a few pointers to steer your clothing choices in a great direction:
Keep It Simple
In my opinion, in-home sessions should feel comfortable. You’ll be cuddling on beds and draped across couches. You’ll be rocking your babes as you read them a book. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t do that in a cocktail dress. With that being said, I leave it open to you. If you want to rock yoga pants and a comfortable sweater, do it. I just want you to feel comfortable and cute. So you do what you need to do to accomplish those two goals.
Don’t Clash with the House
I usually encourage neutral tones that go along with your house. If your decor is mainly browns and creams, definitely don’t wear whites and grays. Wear clothes that fit well in the environment of your home. With so much going on (the house, the people, the clothes) it always works to keep the clothes pretty plain so the focus of the image can be on the relationships between people.
Newborn Cuteness
After all those suggestions, you can totally ignore most of it for newborns. You put that babe in whatever you want! Just know I will probably spend a good portion of the session photographing them in a diaper because their itty bitty body is the cutest!
Finally,
